Discover the Green Benefit District: Join Our June 28 Walking Tour

Come see the Green Benefit District (GBD) in action! We’re excited to invite neighbors, friends, and supporters to a special Walking Tour on Saturday, June 28, from 12:00 to 1:00 PM through some of the most transformative GBD project sites in Northwest Potrero Hill.

🥾 What to Expect

This informal, guided tour is your chance to explore the public spaces GBD has been working to improve and maintain—while hearing directly from the board members and team behind the work.

We’ll walk through:

  • Potrero Gateway – A formerly overlooked space reimagined as a vibrant community entryway.

  • Vermont Greenway + Eco-Patch – A thriving native plant corridor and biodiversity hub that’s becoming a model for ecological restoration and neighborhood greening.

  • Fallen Bridges – An evolving urban greening project repurposing unused infrastructure for public benefit.

  • Benches Garden and Plaza - A public green space and meeting area transformed from a blighted CalTrans Right of Way.

At each stop, GBD representatives will share project highlights, community impacts, and what's ahead as we continue our push for renewal this summer.

📍 Tour Details

This summer marks a key milestone for the GBD as we approach renewal. Your support and involvement help ensure we can continue maintaining, greening, and activating these spaces in the years to come.

Dogpatch Sketch Crawl with Elizabeth Boults and Chip Sullivan

Gain insights into the creative forces and hidden currents of nature. Discover Dogpatch’s hidden stories through drawing, sketching, and collaging with the expert guidance of Elizabeth Boults and Chip Sullivan.

Join MCD and the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) for a magical journey in search of the Genius Loci, the spirit of place, within the Dogpatch neighborhood. ASLA’s Elizabeth Boults and Chip Sullivan are the authors of Wisdom of Place and bring their place-based landscape architectural design expertise to this six-stop Dogpatch walk.

Upon meeting at the museum, Elizabeth and Chip will guide participants through a Sketch Crawl of the neighborhood, stopping at five local design landmarks before reaching Bayfront Park, the final sketch destination. This Sketch Crawl is designed to unlock a deeper appreciation for our historical urban neighborhood.

The first 20 people to arrive will receive a FREE sketchbook, generously donated by BLICK Art Materials. Some materials will be provided, but attendees are encouraged to bring sketchbooks and drawing/writing tools.

This is a free program, and registration is highly recommended.

We encourage participants to check out the museum at regular admission prices before or after the Sketch Crawl.

Please note that the group will depart from the museum parklet at 1:10 pm, and the final destination is about a twenty-minute walk from the museum.
